I am sat here with the sun pouring through the kitchen window, my feet resting on my shakti mat, I love the tingling sensation of the acupressure points, there is a strong coffee brewing in the pot and beautiful daffodils in a small glass vase on the table.
I feel a little dreamy today, almost like the craziness of so many sudden changes in this short period of time don’t actually exist, that somehow, I am living an alternative reality.
I suspect it helped having a really good and deep, soulful video call yesterday with my daughter-in-law, we bared our hearts and minds, expressed our concerns and fears, looked into each other’s eyes and cried until we felt open and clear again.
I love having that kind of relationship with Bethan, I know that many people seem to believe that the mother-daughter-in-law relationship is inherently fraught, but I feel our relationship is a gift beyond measure.
Of course, that doesn’t mean it hasn’t come with some trials along the way! We have navigated some deeply upsetting personal difficulties together, one of which was the traumatic miscarriage I had three years ago. We have, until February, lived with one another (Bethan moved in with us four years ago).
When you have a new adult move in with you it can certainly take a little while to find your groove with one another, but with good clear communication, and being willing to always choose love, it is a beautiful process towards living together with harmony.
“To have, give all to all.”
- A Course In Miracles
I have been really feeling the pang of the physical distance with my two eldest children, Ethan and Freya, and Bethan, being abroad at the time this pandemic swept the world, they are safe and well in self-isolation in Thailand, and we, my youngest son and I, are here in our beautiful village in the Highlands.
Perhaps you too have been feeling the space of physical distance between you and your loved ones?
I believe that as all is One and one is All, then this idea of separation doesn’t really exist, it is simply a separatist filter to view the world through. I know that if I feel into the space beyond and behind, back of all ideas of separation that there is no difference, that indeed everything we see, everything we cast our eyes upon has the same meaning and purpose as the Universe.
All is One and one is All.
When I remember this, I know in my heart that everything, every person, each object is sacred and equal in value, meaning and purpose.
I remember that god, pure consciousness, divine intelligence, cosmic energy (insert your god of choice) is all around us, indeed god is within us. We are made up of the energy particles of divine love. As god is in the large, I am in the small.
The microcosm and the macrocosm in perfect relationship.
When I remember, I understand and know as absolute truth, that my, our, true identity and that of all seemingly inanimate objects are all but the embodiment of the divine made manifest.
So, when I am feeling the pang of separation, of loss, of missing my loved ones, it helps me to remember that we are all One, and that it is only my human experience, not my divine experience that is missing something. That we are all eternally connected in all ways.
I read somewhere that the air, and the energy particles that circulate through our universe, have been breathed by every human being across all time, that the same air that entered the lungs of each our ancestors, Jesus, Rumi, anyone throughout our time here as a species on this land, and breathed out again, is the same air that breathed life into us, and the same air and energy particles of pure potentiality that make up our own existence here and now.
We are not separate we are, and have always been, deeply connected to Source, to one another, to our earthy home and the vast cosmos, as you are, I am, as I am so are you.
I find this a comfort it soothes me when I feel concerned or at a loss. It guides me back home. To the divine abode of truth, of unity of pure love across all time space dimension and reality.
Lesson 29, from the Course says this: God is in everything I see.
Do you agree? How does it feel to think this way? Does it help?
Below I have shared a simple affirmative prayer, to heal any feelings of separation and sense of wrongdoing by something we perceive to be a threat or an enemy. It could be about a particular person or event.
I have heard many people say that we are fighting an invisible enemy in the form of the COVID-19 outbreak, if you feel this way, perhaps you could use the prayer to support you at this time in that regard.
It is powerful to practice daily for 21 days.
Find somewhere comfortable to sit, place a hand on your heart and a hand on your lower belly.
If you feel comfortable you may say the prayer out loud or whisper it to yourself. You may find it helpful to write it out. If you can practice first thing in the morning and last thing at night.
